Command Sergeant Major Anthony “Tony” Rangel III assumed responsibility as Command Sergeant Major, U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM), on October 8, 2024.
CSM Rangel most recently served as the Operations and Integration Directorate (DAMI-OI) Senior Enlisted Leader (SEL) within the office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-2, Department of the Army, Washington, D.C.
CSM Rangel’s extensive military career began in 1998 when he enlisted and attended the Spanish Basic Course at the Defense Language Institute (DLI) Foreign Language Center at Presidio of Monterey, CA, as a Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) Voice Interceptor. Since then, CSM Rangel has served in SIGINT, Cyber, Joint, and Special Operations assignments at every echelon, and has deployed in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM, ENDURING FREEDOM, NEW DAWN, and other overseas contingency operations.
CSM Rangel’s military education includes Spanish Basic Course, Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) Course, Advanced NCO Course, Basic Airborne Course, Army Space Cadre Basic Course, BN and BDE Pre-Command Courses (PCC), CSM Development Course, Joint Special Operations Forces (JSOF) PCC, and Force Integration Course for Senior Leaders. He is a graduate of the Joint Special Operations University’s JSOF Senior Enlisted Academy, and the Summit Course.

CSM Rangel and his wife have two sons who both serve in the U.S. Army.
