CSM Royal C. Becerra
Command Sergeant Major Royal Becerra is a native of Merced, California, and enlisted in the Army on 2 Oct 1996 as an Infantrymen. He attended OSUT Training at Fort Moore, Georgia. In 1999, CSM Becerra re-classed into the Military Intelligence Corps three years later. In 2004, CSM Becerra took a three-year break in service, returning in 2007.
CSM Becerra has served in every leadership position from Team Leader to Brigade Command Sergeant Major. He has served as an Assistant Gunner/Gunner, Alpha Co., 1/24 Infantry Battalion, JBLM, Washington; All-Source Analyst, HHC, 2D Infantry Division, Uijeongbu, South Korea; All-Source Analyst NCO, 513th MI BDE, Fort Eisenhower, Georgia; G-2 Planner HHC. I-Corps, JBLM, Washington; Operations NCOIC, Charlie Co., 304th MI BN, Fort Huachuca, Arizona; BDE S-2, 4th MEB, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; Drill Sergeant, 310th Infantry Regiment, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; First Sergeant, Alpha Co, 532nd, Yongsan, South Korea; BDE S-2, HHC, 4/25 IBCT (Airborne), JBER, Alaska; First Sergeant, Delta Co., 4/25th IBCT (Airborne), JBER, Alaska; S-3 Operations Sergeant Major, 66th MI BDE, Wiesbaden, GM; BN Command Sergeant Major, Technical Services Battalion, Fort Meade, Maryland. BDE Command Sergeant Major, 704th Military Intelligence Brigade, Fort Meade, MD. His stateside tours include JBLM, Washington, Fort Eisenhower, Georgia, Fort Huachuca, Arizona, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, JBER, Alaska, and Fort Meade, Maryland. His overseas assignments include two tours to South Korea and one in Germany. Additionally, he deployed twice to Afghanistan to support Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.
CSM Becerra’s Military and Civilian education include Basic Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, Senior Leader Course, Drill Sergeant School, Air Assault Course, Airborne School, Combatives Level I, II, and III, Basic Instructor and Small Group Instructor Courses, Company Commander/First Sergeant Course, Equal Opportunity, Battle Staff, Master Fitness, and the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy. CSM Becerra earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Wayland University. His awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (4 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (4 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (4 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (6 Award), National Defense Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Afghan Campaign Medal (3 CS), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (5), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (6), and NATO Medal.
CSM Becerra has been married to retired CSM Jacqueline Becerra of Sanford, North Carolina, for 24 years. Together they have three children, Joseline (21), Jeanna (15), and Royal (12).
