About Us

The 780th Military Intelligence Brigade (Cyber) is a major subordinate command of the U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command and the U.S. Army Cyber Command. Our Soldiers and Civilians are on the cutting edge of technology and intelligence operations.

The Brigade motto is “Ubique Et Semper In Pugna” which in Latin means “Everywhere and always fighting” – We don’t talk about what we do nor who we are in a cyber ‘knife fight’ with; however, we are “Everywhere and Always...In the Fight!” We are the only offensive cyberspace operations brigade in the U.S. Army.

Mission

The 780th Military Intelligence Brigade (Cyber) generates, trains, and sustains the Army’s offensive cyberspace operations teams and Cyber Warfare Battalions to deliver effects in support of Army and joint requirements.

Units

The 780th MI BDE (CY) (Praetorians) consists of the Headquarters and Headquarters Company (Hastati), 781st MI Battalion (Cyber) (Vanguard), 782d MI Battalion (Cyber) (Cyber Legion), 11th Cyber Warfare Battalion (Leviathan), and Operations Support Element.

Colonel (COL) Benjamin H. Klimkowski
Commander, 780th MI BDE (CY)

COL Benjamin H. Klimkowski is a Cyberwarfare Officer and most recently served as Chief, Cyber and Electromagnetic Activities (CEMA), U.S. Army Europe and Africa (USAREUR-AF).

COL Klimkowski was born and raised in Wantagh, NY. He graduated from the United States Military Academy (USMA) in 2004 and was commissioned as an Infantry Officer. COL Klimkowski later became a Functional Area 24 (Telecommunications Engineer) prior to the establishment of the Cyber Branch.

COL Klimkowski’s first assignments included service with 3-325 Airborne Infantry Regiment and 2-508 Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82d Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, NC. While serving with the All American Division, COL Klimkowski served as a Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, Battle Captain, and Battalion Operations Officer. He deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. After designation as a Functional Area 24 (FA24) Officer, he was assigned to the Army Global Network Operations and Security Center (AGNOSC) at Fort Belvoir, where he was a Watch Officer later: Deputy Chief of Current Operations and participated in the transition to Army Cyber Command (ARCYBER). At ARCYBER, he was also a Computer Network Operations (CNO) Planner forward at Fort Meade. Afterwards, he was an Assistant Professor at USMA and taught Computer Science. In 2017, COL Klimkowski joined the US Army Cyber Protection Brigade (CPB). At the CPB, he served as the 200 Cyber Protection Team (CPT) Leader, Operations Officer for the 2d Cyber Battalion, and 03 National CPT Lead (Cyber National Mission Force). He subsequently commanded the 11th Cyber Battalion (formerly known as the 915th Cyber Warfare Battalion) and was selected in FY26 to command the 780th Military Intelligence Brigade (Cyber).

COL Klimkowski is a graduate of the Air Assault Course, Infantry Officer Basic Course, Basic Airborne Course, Ranger Course, Reconnaissance and Surveillance Leaders’ Course (RSLC), Infantry Mortar Leader Course, Telecommunications Systems Engineering Course, Signal Captains Career Course, CNO Planner course, Command and General Staff College, and Joint Advanced Cyberspace Warfare Course. He was the US Army War College Fellow to the National Security Agency for Academic Year 2024. He holds a Master of Science (MS) degree in Computer Science from the University of Maryland (UMD), a MS in Telecommunications from the University of Colorado at Boulder (CU Boulder), and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from USMA.

COL Klimkowski’s military awards include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters (3OLC), Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (3OLC), Ranger Tab, and the Master Combat Infantryman Badge.

COL Klimkowski is married to his wife Jacqueline, and they have five lively children—three daughters, and two sons. His wife is a native of North Carolina and is a Nursing Educator (formerly at DDEAMC, USC-Aiken and Augusta University).

COL Klimkowski is passionate about improving the state of the Cyber Branch and helping mature the way the Army fights in the cyberspace domain. His research interests are related to computing systems and artificial intelligence, to include security, network traffic analysis, machine learning and data mining. He spends his free time powerlifting, running, reading, and raising Team Klimkowski.

Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Joseph P Daniel
780th MI BDE (CY)
Command Sgt. Maj. (CSM) Joseph P. Daniel is a Missouri native, he enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps as an infantryman on May 15, 1997. He attended basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, California, followed by the School of Infantry at Camp Pendleton, California. In May 2001, he left the Marines and in May 2002 enlisted in the Army as an infantryman. In 2009, CSM Daniel reclassed to Electronic Warfare and now serves as an 17Z, Cyberspace and Electromagnetic Activities (CEMA) Sergeant Major.

CSM Daniel has served in various leadership roles and duty positions ranging from tactical, operational and strategic levels. His previous assignments include 5th Battalion 20th Infantry, Bravo Company, Charlie Company, and Headquarters & Headquarters Battalion; Henry H. Lind Non-Commissioned Officer Academy; and 1st Special Forces Group, Group HQ, Joint Base Lewis-McCord, Washington; 8th Army, Operational Fires Directorate, Seoul, Republic of South Korea; Human Resources Command, Cyber Branch, Fort Knox, Kentucky; United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Fort Bliss, Texas; U.S. Army Europe and Africa, Contingency Command Post, Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion (provisional), Wiesbaden, Germany; 781st Military Intelligence Battalion, and now 780th Military Intelligence Brigade, Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. CSM Daniel's deployments include WESTPAC with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit and two tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

His military and civilian education includes all levels of the NCO System, Airborne School, Jump Master School, Instructor Training Course, Master Resiliency Course, Tactical Information Operations Course, Joint Fires and Effects Course, Combatives Level I. He holds a bachelor's degree in Information Technology Management from American Military University in Charles Town, West Virginia.

CSM Daniel's awards and decorations include the Combat Infantryman Badge; Expert Infantryman Badge; Parachutist Badge; Meritorious Service Medal (4th award); Army Commendation Medal with Valor device; Army Commendation Medal (5th award); Army Achievement Medal (2nd award); Army Good Conduct Medal (7th award); Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; Iraq Campaign Medal; Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; NCO Professional Development Ribbon (5th award); Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon (3rd award); Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon; Korea Service Ribbon; Valorous Unit Award; Meritorious Unit Citation (2nd award); Navy Unit Commendation; and Army Superior Unit Award.
