Colonel Steven J. Curtis
Colonel Steven J. Curtis graduated from the United States Military Academy with a degree in Chinese and Russian. A Detroit, Michigan native, he was commissioned into the Infantry in 2003. Colonel Curtis has served at the tactical, operational, and joint levels.

Colonel Curtis began his career as a rifle platoon leader with 2-5 Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division, conducting combat operations in Sadr City, Iraq. He served as the brigade assistant S-2 for the 35th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, Osan, Korea; served as a company commander and battalion S-3 for the 532nd Military Intelligence Battalion, USAG Yongsan; deployed to Regional Command East, Afghanistan, as the brigade S-2, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team; served as the executive officer for the 309th Military Intelligence Battalion, Fort Huachuca, Arizona, responsible for training human intelligence and counterintelligence Soldiers and Airmen. He served as a Military Legislative Assistant for a United States Senator. Subsequently, he served as a Legislative Assistant to the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff and Executive Assistant to the Vice Director, Joint Staff.

Colonel Curtis commanded the 24th Military Intelligence Battalion (Operations) during its consolidation to Clay Kaserne, Wiesbaden, Germany, and served as the Operations and Plans Director for the U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command, Fort Belvoir, Virgina. He also deployed to Iraq as the J-2, Combined Special Operations Joint Task Force Levant.

Colonel Curtis holds a Master of Arts in Strategic Intelligence from American Public University, a Master of Professional Studies in Legislative Affairs from George Washington University, and is a former Woodrow Wilson Fellow. He is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Military Intelligence Officer Advanced Course, Army Command and General Staff College, and a Senior Service College Fellowship at Carnegie Mellon University.

Command Sergeant Major 


Command Sergeant Major Rose A. Shutts
Command Sergeant Major Rose A. Shutts began her military career in 2003 as an all source intelligence analyst (96B/35F). She served in numerous intelligence and leadership positions in the 10th Mountain Division, North Atlantic Treaty Organization Intelligence Fusion Center, 902nd Military Intelligence Group, Joint Special Operations Command Intelligence Brigade, Joint Special Operations Command J-2, and the Joint Inter-Agency Task Force - National Capital Region. Most recently, she served as the Command Sergeant Major for the Joint Special Operations Command Intelligence Brigade's Joint Geospatial Intelligence Squadron.

Command Sergeant Major Shutts deployed 15 times in support of counterterrorism operations in Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Yemen, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Jordan. She graduated every level of Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development, culminating as a 2019 graduate of the United States Special Operations Command Joint Special Operations Forces Senior Enlisted Academy.

Command Sergeant Major Shutts' awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (with 1 oak leaf cluster), Defense Meritorious Service Medal (with 4 oak leaf clusters), and many other joint and Army commendation and achievement medals.

Command Sergeant Major Shutts is a 2023 graduate of the University of Charleston, West Virginia, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Strategic Leadership from the same institution.
